Meena Social Mobilization Initiative

Center provided technical assistance to UNICEF Pakistan in developing guidelines and detailed training manuals for different levels of training for applying Meena communication material, especially Meena comics. The project entailed facilitating the Training of Trainers at provincial level, monitoring and mentoring district teams, union council and school-level (cascade method) training sessions on application of Meena communication material as well as carrying out a pre- and post-assessment of the initiative with children for an informed impact assessment documentation.
The main objective of the initiative was to assist UNICEF Pakistan in conducting social mobilization initiative using Meena storybooks and films in regular UNICEF supported and floods affected districts of Pakistan.
Activities included contextualizing and strengthening existing guidelines for using Meena Communication Material along with development of a manuals for providing guidance on conducting ToT in each province, district and down to school level sessions as well as designing and implementing Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops in each provinces for using UNICEF’s communication tool kit. A rapid pre and post capacity assessment was also conducted in selected areas to assess the effectiveness of the campaign.
A comprehensive training methodology and manual was developed for using Meena Communication Material in different settings, especially in schools and with youth groups. A country-wide TOT sessions were held on the developed manual which was further rolled out to public schools.
