Launching Qasim the Nazim!

Center has launched a fictional multimedia character called, ‘Qasim the Nazim’. This character is developed and launched under a continuing initiative supporting German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in implementation of the Local Governance Programme (LoGo) in Punjab and Khyber Paktunkhwa. ‘Qasim the Nazim’ will form the voice to speak and reach out to the citizens and counterparts. The character was developed through human-centred design approach and has inputs from multiple government partners in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Qasim is launched on all the major social media platforms. Through comics, posts and animations, as well as with the help of a range of outreach activities such as, puppet shows, storytelling sessions and theatre, the fictional character will increase knowledge and awareness about rights and responsibilities of active citizenship and promote local governance and its inner workings. Qasim will form the the key voice and lynchpin to raise issues and set an ideal example of a public servant.

The campaign includes a range of entertainment-education and social mobilisation activities. ‘Qasim the Nazim’ will support the weight of entertainment education content on his shoulders and is the central character in theatre, puppet show and storytelling performances. These performances are based on thematic scripts on topics relevant to local governance, i.e. citizen’s right to information, taxation, local councils association and political participation. ‘Qasim the Nazim’ is the go to person who is knowledgable and helpful towards the citizens that he serves.
