Center for Communication Programs Pakistan is holding an inter-university ‘Poster Competition’ for students under the theme of ‘Ending Child Marriage’ in Pakistan.
Students are invited to participate, through their respective invited universities, to highlight the issue of child marriage in Pakistan among young people. The inter-university poster competition is planned in two phases, spanning from March till August 2019.
The competition category, theme, and instructions are as follows;
Poster Dimension: 18’’ x 23”
Theme: Why is child marriage harmful?
Material: Students may use any material for preparation and production of their posters, whether printed, cutout, painted, or other, but should be transportable.
Evaluation: Posters will be evaluated based on prescribed criteria of originality, artistry, presentation, correctness, readability and their ability to communicate a clear message.
Phase I (Intra-University)
In the first phase, all participating students will compete within their respective invited universities.
Time Span: March – April 2019
Orientation Seminar & Discussion: An orientation seminar on the ‘Sociological and Religious Perspectives of Child Marriage in Pakistan’ will be organized by the participating universities on campus in order to inform the posters.
Speakers from Center will conduct the orientation session. The duration will be for one to one and half hour including question and answer session. Each university will inform their students on the date, time & venue. The participants will have two weeks to develop posters.
Jury: The jury will consist of at least two panelists from the university and one from Center. Evaluation of the posters will be done against the prescribed criteria as below;
Originality,
Artistry,
Presentation,
Correctness,
Readability and
Ability to communicate a clear message
Exhibition & Award Ceremony: Up to top three will be selected, depending on the number of submissions, from each university to compete at the inter-university level. In the first phase, the students of qualifying posters from each university will each receive an award of PKR 10,000.
The posters and the event will be publicized through center’s website and Facebook page.
Phase II (Inter University)
The second phase will be held at the inter-university level where all qualifying posters will compete with each other for a prize of PKR 50,000 and a shield for the winning university.
Time Span: Phase II spans over May – August 2019.
Submission of Posters: The universities will submit/transport the top selected posters (from Phase I) to Center at Islamabad. The posters are required to be mountable.
Jury at Center: Center will form a jury and from amongst the submissions against the prescribed criteria evaluate the posters and inform of the winning poster and university.
Exhibition & Award: The winner, accompanied by the Head of the Department, will be awarded at the National Conference on Child Marriage being organized in the first half of August 2019.
The qualifying posters for the second round will also be promoted through Center’s social media platforms. Press coverage of the event is also expected.
