Center is assisting GIZ Pakistan in building the capacity of the Labor Department of Government of Punjab. This in turn will enable the government in effectively promoting occupational safety and health standards at the workplace. Textile Sector is the largest industrial employer in Pakistan. Improving the working conditions in the textile sector can make the industry more compliant with international standards as well as make it more competitive. A recent study called Return on Prevention (ROP) validates this fact. A study was done in 58 leading organizations working in the textile sector to assess the monetary returns of investing in prevention; occupational safety and health standards. The findings were very encouraging for implementing safety and health standards.

Center held a two day training at Lahore for sensitizing government officials on using Social Media for promoting ROP as well as other issues relevant to the department. The training was a continuity in a series of two trainings, one held earlier on the application of Smart Chart for development of campaigns and this one on using social media as a new evolving platform. Like in the earlier training, “Learn as you do” approach was used to train the participants in using social media platforms for disseminating their campaigns. The participants were given orientation on vital statistics related to social media, its history, its evolution and how it was successfully used recently for different national and international campaigns. The participants were also given an orientation on using a 6 step process for developing a social media campaign for their departments with little or no help from others. The concept of user generated content and how to create content to engage users was discussed with the participants. In group activities, the participants applied the learnt knowledge in making their content engaging as well as impactful.

The two day training was held on 18 and 19 October 2018 at CIWCE Office Lahore.
